Program chair Ron Peterlin with speaker Kent Terry sharing on the continued disaster recovery efforts in the City of Marseilles, after the flooding this past May. Mr. Terry is part of the Long Term Recovery Committee of LaSalle County that was established in June 2013.
The mission of the committee is: "To establish and maintain a network within and on behalf of the faith-based, non-profit, governmental, business and other community organizations and agencies which will provide a coordinated recovery effort for persons affected by the disasters since April 2013 within LaSalle County." To date, the committee has opened 80 cases of which about 60 remian open. They have received donations from United Way, the Methodist Church, and the Walmart Foundation (through a grant to the Salvation Army). Considerable funding is still needed for at least 15-20 families. Families are in need of items such as furnaces, extensive rebuilding/renovation, and mold remediation. Any help is welcomed.
